If you look through my wardrobe, you’ll find most of my clothes are in hues of blue and black. I like neutrals with some splash of color. As most people would be adorning themselves with colorful clothing for the summer, I generally keep to my basics. I have no problem wearing black in the summer. I embrace it!

Since the weather here in the Bay Area is still fairly warm, I thought I’ll highlight some of my summer outfits in my favorite colors – blue and black – and some summer time apparel tips. (For others outside the Bay Area where autumn is in full gear, you can save this for next spring/summer.) Enjoy!navy dress

A simple navy shirt dress with a cross-body purse and gold sandals highlighting the gold buttons on my dress. Casual but still dressy.

chambray dress

I saw this chambray dress at H&M and had to have it. A simple and classic daytime look. I wore it with a pair of tan penny loafers. I love these loafers because they have a laid back summer look.

I like this baby blue lace dress because you can dress it up or down like I did here. Also, it’s a stretchy material = great brunch dress.

chambray shirtEveryone must have a chambray shirt in their closet. A MUST! I decided to pair it with a navy skirt instead of a pair of jeans like most people do. Mix it up!

(I wore this in Seattle as you can tell. It was chilly when I was there but just imagine this outfit without the tights and cardigan. Haha.)

In SF, summer can be warm then chilly really quick. I always bring layers – sweater, cardigans, knee-highs, stockings, leggings, tights, etc. – with me to add on throughout my day.

Here I have a very light and airy sweater that has a sheer top giving it a summery look paired with shorts, knee-highs, and a pair of fun shoes.

A black cotton skater dress is a staple. You can’t see it here, but this dress is 3/4 sleeve – great for summer. Like I said, in SF you have to be prepare for the breeze to roll in. I wore a cardigan with fun mismatch prints.

black shirt and jeans

I love, love my black cotton tee. It is important to wear cotton in the summer because it’s breathable material. I offset the all black look with a pair of white sandals. If I had cuffed my jeans, this outfit would had looked perfect.

polkadot black dress

A simple cotton polka-dot shift dress and kept it casual with a pair of quilted slip-ons. Shift dresses are ideal for summer because they allow airflow.

I wore this outfit during one of those blazin’ hot summer weeks we had in the Bay. I kept my legs bared all day in SF, so you know it was WARM!

And I Leave You With…
Since the weekend is here, I wanted to end this post with a song by The Weeknd who I’m currently obsessed with. His voice is so beautiful and the man got style!
