SUMMER is officially here! It was summer solstice on Sunday. In most places of the United States, people are frolicking in dresses and shorts. Although it was mostly chilly and gloomy this spring (and now June gloom) in San Francisco, we do get some hours of sun here and there when the fog lifts. Or, when we leave San Francisco, the surrounding cities are usually in the 80s–90s. In addition, summer weekend trips for some fun in the sun and on the beach like we did last weekend to L.A — post to come on the blog soon!

Here are a few pieces I’ve added to my summer wardrobe.

I love stripes! Given an opportunity to add another striped item to my wardrobe, I’ll happily do it. I like this knit cotton shift tank dress because it’s simple, easy, and comfortable yet chic. You can throw it on with a pair of sandals, and you’re ready to go! I paired it with a denim jacket for when the bay breeze or fog rolls in here in San Francisco. Mini backpacks have been very trendy lately; every brand and designer have one in their collection. I use my Kanken backpack so often. I can store some much stuff in it such as my wallet, sunglasses, water bottle, sketch book, pen bag, make-up bag, a sweater or jacket, and anything I buy through out the day. I’ve been digging the Birkenstock trend but couldn’t bring myself to spending $100 for a pair — especially, since it doesn’t get that warm in San Francisco. I managed to find a pair of knock-offs for the fraction of the price, but it doesn’t have the same comfort level. How Birkenstocks are back in style and trendier than ever I’ll have no idea, but I’m one of them suckers.

Floral shorts! Floral and tropical prints are super hot at the moment. You can find them anywhere. These pairs of tropical print shorts caught my eye in the store. I like them because you can dress them up or down. Also, they have pockets! Any article of item with pockets are always a bonus. I paired it with this ivory structured sweater and gold sandals to give it a casual chic look. This light sweater is great for when the ocean or bay breeze kicks in.

Since I was adding new summer clothes and sandals, I thought I might as well pick up a few other items.Sephora lipstick Charmerclose-up of hair and lipstick

My sister have been telling me to add some nude shades of lipstick my collection. I thought this pink-brown nude was perfect for a warm summer look. I absolutely love it and have been wearing it everyday since I got it. Pink nude lipstick from Sephora

summer nail polish

I’ll been eyeing this nail polish at Sephora for a while now and thought might as well. Hehe. I was drawn to the pastel colors. Nail polish from Sephora

I really wanted to bring in a new pair of sunnies to my all brown collection of sunglasses. These were the perfect color with a blend of nude pink and light pink. I like the pop of color and the way it contrast against my skin tone and hair color. Sunglasses from H&M
