Snack Review: April 2016

Are you guys ready for my monthly snack round-up? This month’s snacks really pack a major punch in flavor and spice! I picked up snacks from Daiso, Koreana, Jay Bharat,Vik’s Market, and other Asian markets. 1. Japanese Potato Cracker with Shrimp I’ve passed by these a few times while shopping at Daiso and figured I’ll get them along with some other snackies. I like these for two reasons: the crunch factor and the little shrimps in each cracker! Hello everyone! I’m back and planning to blog regularly again. I’ve been taking some time to reflect on myself and where I want to take the blog. Trader Joe’s Product Review: Popcorn in a Pickle + Desserts!

Finally, a Trader Joe’s Product Review post on the blog again! I have neglected this series of the blog. It’s been a whirlwind, and I’m still getting on a routine with blogging. I plan to make it a monthly post going forward. Popcorn in a Pickle (vegan) I’ve been curious about these, so I was glad my friend Robin, from Vegan Dollhouse, brought them to our housewarming bbq. New Shanghainese place in SF – Taste of Jiangnan!

Growing up, when we went to a Chinese restaurant, it was Cantonese food. I assume a lot of people did too. It seems that majority of Chinese restaurants in America are Cantonese with some Szechuan restaurants out there. However, times have changed. There’s a huge wave of Chinese restaurants opening up specializing cuisine from their region. Shanghainese food is a new thing for me, and it’s been an amazingly delicious experience every time! La Pinata #1

When moving to the East Bay, the hubs was determined to find three things: 1) a local place where he can get craft beer, 2) a good burrito place, and 3) a game store for him to play Magic the Gathering. He’s a simple man. One of the place we’ve tried and liked is La Pinat#1 in Hayward. Just looking at the exterior, I was excited to try this place out. Alright folks, I’ve got September’s snack review for you! It’s filled with some interesting and tasty finds from Nijiya Market in SF and Foodnet Supermarket in San Leandro. 1. Age Ichichani  I’ve seen these at the Japanese market before but never grab a bag to try. Not until, Kareen from Ziba mentioned them to me. She was kidding when she said they were additive. These rice crackers were crunchy and the cracks created nooks for the seasonings to stick to. I like them way better than those super starchy ones you usually get in the rice cracker mix. East Bay Adventures: Lake Chabot and Drake’s Barrel House

Our friend from Sacramento came down to visit. He likes to hike and enjoys a nice refreshing beer, and we wanted to showcase our new neighborhood to him. So, we took him on a little mini East Bay adventure to Lake Chabot and Drake’s Brewery. I’ve lived in the Bay Area for about 20 years and have never been to Lake Chabot! Dine Under the Dome at Tap [415]

Have you guys been to Tap [415] inside the Westfield in Union Square yet? I found out about it through a meetup I attended. Otherwise, I wouldn’t had known it existed, since I rarely go all the way to the top of the dome. It’s a casual dining spot; you seat yourself and a server comes to take your order. There’s plenty of tables, and it doesn’t get that crazy busy. So, it’s great for groups. We ordered quite the spread as you can see. Looking at it, I couldn’t believe we ordered all that food! The Chairman

Chairman Bao, The Chairman…some reason, I remembered it being called Chairman Bao when it first started roaming the streets of SF. I’m sure many of you have heard that The Chairman truck have a brick and mortar location now in the TL (Tenderloin). Years ago, I spotted The Chairman truck constantly parked outside of a location on Larkin St. I figured they must use a kitchen there because I saw people going in and out of it into the truck. Hope you guys had a wonderful Labor Day weekend filled with some great bbq despite the heat! Today’s even hotter than yesterday, and I hear it’s going to continue to get hot.
